Effective Meetings

In this training, participants will explore the facets of meeting planning and facilitation. Whether you are facilitating a teleconference or an in-person meeting, this training was designed to help managers and leaders host productive meetings. The facilitator will learn the tools to get everyone engaged, build consensus, come to a group agreement, and overcome conflict and disagreement, while your employees will discover how they can get the most out of every meeting they attend. Using discussion and activities to plan appropriate facilitation sessions, participants will learn principles of effective communication, investigate group management, and meeting best practices.

Module 3—Strategies for Building Consensus

  • Encouraging participation
  • Gathering information
  • Presenting information
  • Synthesizing and summarizing

Module 4—Addressing Group Dysfunction

  • Using ground rules to prevent dysfunction
  • Restating and reframing issues
  • Getting people back on track

Room Requirements 

  • Internet access for the presenter 
  • Screen 
  • Projector (if not ceiling mounted then a table or cart will need to be provided) • Training room must be able to comfortably accommodate the number of participants plus room to move around for various activities) 
  • Rounds or pods, a small table for presenter’s materials, chairs for all participants • One Flip chart and easel for each round table (for small group work) and markers

Additional Requirements 

  • Elevate will choose training facilitators whose background and expertise will support the subject matter and goals of the client 
  • Instructors will use a variety of instructional methods including lecture, group projects, discussion, and role play 
  • Participants are expected to be actively engaged in the learning process
